United Buddy Bears Tour-Israel 2007

The United Buddy Bears was an artists project to promote peace around the world. Artists from 133 countries were given a big bear statue and they were given the freedom to express their country in colors, shapes, words, and images. The resulting bears then were sent to various countries to be displayed prominently. We saw the exhibit in downtown Jerusalem, the modern city. It sort of reminded me of the painted fish statues on display in Anchorage Alaska when we were there in 2004.

Moldova and Mexico

Cuba, notice the Cuban cigar.

Liberia and Lesotho. I have no idea where Lesotho is. I never even heard of it.

Denmark and Czech Republic. The Czech Republic bear has the symbols of the stock market, bulls and bears, I guess because during that time the stock market was in the news.

Italy and Ireland

USA

Georgia and France "Equality, Fraternity, Liberty."

Thailand, "Air Mail Bear"

Albert Einstein Bear "Peace cannot be kept by Force. It can only be achieved by understanding."

I can't remember the countries for most of the bears in the photos we snapped. Like Beanie Babies, except these are gigantic bears. It was hard to pick a favorite. They were all so unique and beautiful.
