Here is a faded photo of Dad in front of his new home at 4071 Eagle St somewhere in the 1955 timeframe. Against all odds, he and Mom were able to somehow get out of a Detroit Project, into a crowded trailer, then a move across country and into a 3 bedroom Craftsman house on the edge of a canyon in the beautiful Mission Hills neighborhood of San Diego. Dad kept the yard in meticulous order, and this was before power mowers, weedwackers, power edgers, and leaf blowers. Here he is, captured in time in the middle of sweeping up freshly edged lawn.
He must have felt very happy to have achieved the American dream.
