Dad must have been a Detroit Tigers fan. I found this 1949 schedule, in perfect condition, in with his personal papers, 35 years later.

One of Dad's photos of Mom's first five kids. From left: Susan, Lynda, Tim, and Skippy, held by Patricia.

Self photos of Dad by Dad. You wouldn't notice it until it is pointed out, but if you look closer you will notice his hands look funny. That's because he was burned in an accident as a youngster, back in 1915 or so, and went through a series of painful procedures to try to save his burned hands. Imagine how unsophicated his treatment must have been in those days. He ended up with no finger prints, and could not straighten out his fingers. But his penmanship was perfect. And he ended up being an aerospace engineer, despite his scarred mishapen hands.

Mom and dad on their wedding day, May 17, 1950. Dad was 36 years old, with white hair already. Mom was 28 years old. Already widowed and with 5 kids.

A faded photo of a guy obviously enchanted by Mom's two youngest kids Lynda and Skippy. How many men are willing to take on the role of father to someone else's five children?

Dad, his sister June, and June's 2 boys. I never knew his people. Visits from his side of the family were practically non existent. I think they probably didn't like my Mom very much.

A really old photo of Dad, when he still had brown hair. Wish I knew what kind of car that was. And whether it was his or if he just posed in front of it to look cool, like teens do these days at the big Auto Shows they have every year.

Dad (Darwin S Warriner) and his big sister June. Must have been around 1916, in Detroit, Michigan. Looks like this was taken before the serious burning incident that left Dad scarred for life.

Dad's little sister Mavis and little brother Billy. Billy died of a ruptured appendix at the age of 17.

The four Warriner kids in Detroit, 1923. You can tell that Darwin (my Dad) has been through the wringer by this point. He had been through rudimentary plastic surgery, skin grafting, and had lost all of his hair. It came back in but it was always thin, and he started going grey in his teens. The burning incident aged him overnight, but he survived.
